City of Detroit, Building and Safety Engineering awards $1.3 million demolition contract to DMC. This is a two year contract with a option for a 1 year renewal. In an effort to reduce blight and eliminate potential hot spots for crime, Mayor Dave Bing is committed to demolishing 3,000 dangerous, abandoned and dilapidated buildings this year. His goal is to demolish a total of 10,000 dangerous structures by the end of his term in December 2013.
